It is my desire to give my students the instruction and resources necessary to be well rounded musicians. This goes beyond learning where to put one's fingers to a comprehensive understanding of the instrument and how it fits into the larger picture of music. I consider it my job to give students all of the tools that they need to play in whatever style they choose. Learn music now, and enjoy it for ever.
Over the past decade I have worked with just about every type of student you could think of. I’ve taught players from five years old and those well into retirement and across a variety of genres and styles. It’s easy to figure out a few chords on the guitar, but I want my students to be able to have the flexibility to not only play in a variety ways, but be able to pick up new things quickly because they really understand how the instrument and their bodies work. With my experience as both a player and a teacher, I have a great deal of insight into what is going wrong when a student can’t quite get the sound that they want to hear as well as methods and exercises to address the problem. Through demonstration and explanation during lessons, as well as their own practice and “self teaching” throughout the week, students will learn to have their own insights into their playing and be able to quickly address and correct problems themselves.
If you are picking up an instrument for the first time and want to learn the basics of music as well as learning a new instrument, I would love to share the joy of the guitar with you.
